WHY BECOME AN ESCH CLIENT?

Good management builds the capacity of nonprofits.  It helps them to deliver more services. It’s called productivity, and has had a tremendous impact on the for-profit sector of our society.  At ESCH, that’s our specialty.  We’re a unique nonprofit that transfers skills from the corporate sector to help the nonprofit sector run more efficiently.

At ESCH, we don’t fund nonprofits…..we make funding go further by helping to solve those problems that hinder your productivity and impede your capacity to serve the public—we help you to more effectively carry out your mission within your organization.

In order for the Executive Service Corps to assist you, we require that your organization have the following:

  • You must be an Executive Director of board member of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
  • You must provide us with a copy of your 501(c)(3) IRS Determination Letter
  • You must provide us with a list of your Board of Directors or Trustees

ESCH IS THE ‘GO TO RESOURCE’ FOR NONPROFIT MANAGEMENT ISSUES

ESCH enhances the performance of nonprofits by solving key management issues that are currently holding your organization back, or limiting your current performance.  Often these issues are vital and critical to your organization’s success.

Our consultants undertake customized, hands-on, projects in key areas such as: strategic planning, board development, program evaluation, performance measurement, financial planning, development and fundraising, grant writing, budgeting, accounting, volunteer management, running effective meetings, computer resources, human resources, mentoring of key managers, and insurance coverage.  These consulting projects are customized to your needs, are offered free of charge, and are undertaken to meet the needs of each specific nonprofit that we help.   We are fortunate to have such a powerful impact.

Our consulting projects may range from a one-day planning retreat for the Board of Trustees of a charitable group, to a total operations analysis with recommendations for a new management organization and financial system.

Demand is strong for ESCH assistance.  Many organizations that deliver humanitarian services to the greater Houston area recognize that they lack certain management or organizational skills needed to attain service goals and fulfill their missions. ESCH is usually able to help fill those performance gaps and assist its clients in reaching their potential. Because of the broad range of expertise available, ESCH assigns consultants who can develop a plan of management assistance tailored to the specific needs of each client.  We can hold a client’s hand.

Clients range widely, and last year the 265 clients we served included larger organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Harris County Children’s Protective Services, the Children’s Museum, National Kidney Foundation, Alzheimer’s Foundation, AIDS Foundation, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston, and nonprofit groups of smaller size, such as the Center for the Healing of Racism, Children’s Safe Harbor, Friends of Texas Wildlife, Main Street Theatre, Target Hunger, Uplift House, Science Engineering Fair, Pregnancy Help Center, Westside Homeless Partnership, Opera in the Heights, and numerous community development programs such as the Fifth Ward Community Redevelopment Corporation.  ESCH has served over 700 nonprofit organizations in Houston, during our 20 year history.  A full list of the 265 clients served by ESCH last year is listed on the inside cover of our 2003 annual report.
